Music has always been a great passion of mine, and I’ve always enjoyed showcasing music within video format. I really enjoy all aspects of creating music videos and live recording sessions; from recording audio, to creating a video concept, to directing and editing. As a musician myself, I understand how important these videos can be to further showcase talent and musical vision.

With that in mind, I was thrilled when I met Bran Sanders. Not only is his music soul soothing, but Bran and I were aligned on what we both wanted out of a live recording session. We decided to strip down the production to create an intimate, live session to showcase Bran’s talent and unique style. Although there would be less requirements for production, recording a live session can create additional challenges with live audio. Outside, uncontrollable sounds can create unwanted noises and feedback. Additionally, power sources can be a challenge depending on the location and the facilitates available.

We landed on shooting the session at the Historic O’Keefe Ranch located in Vernon, BC., which mitigated a lot of the concerns I typically have with outdoor live recoding sessions. With historic buildings, equipment and monuments, O’Keefe Ranch matched the style of Bran’s classic folk songs.

As we got rolling, I was instantly at ease as it became clear that Bran was incredibly talented and would have little to no audio concerns. Bran was sounding so great, I encouraged him to play a few additional songs as the location, Bran’s talent and songs took me to a place of ease and comfort.

Bran was an absolute pleasure to work with and I was able to take a few key learning opportunities away for my next live recording session.

If you’d like to record your own live recording session, give me a shout, I’d love to hear your ideas!
