Okanagan Wine Passport

May 12th, 2021

When I had the idea to start my own production company, one driving factor was that I could meet new, interesting and talented individuals and groups with each new project. This Spring I had the opportunity to work with Kayla and Kylee from uncorkBC which has been one of the most exciting projects I’ve done to date.

uncorkBC had just relocated to the Okanagan, which is home to BC’s best wine (we may be biased but we truly believe this!), and wanted to promote the first Okanagan Wine Passport. We happen to be big fans of Okanagan wine and will jump on any opportunity to share that passion. If you’re from the Okanagan or if you’ve visited the area, it’s quick to understand there are far more local wineries than one can visit in a weekend or even a month for that matter! This passport was such a great idea, providing a map to each route (Lake Country, Kelowna/West Kelowna, Naramata Bench/Penticton and Oliver/Osoyoos) with local deals and promotions, we couldn’t wait to get started!

Kayla shared her vision for the video, wanting to provide a quick tutorial of how the passport worked including some of the benefits and deals included! We shared some of our ideas, however with Kayla’s creativity, extensive wine knowledge and energetic personality, we knew this video would come together quite naturally. We set a date when the spring weather was favourable and made our way down to the beautiful Naramata Bench.

On the day of the shoot, we met Kayla, went over our vision and game plan and simply shadowed Kayla and Kylee as they started their tour along the Naramata Bench route. We wanted to authentically capture the Passport experience to show viewers how they could structure their route. We simply fell into the background while Kayla and Kylee completed their complimentary tastings.

As the day progressed we moved from Tightrope Winery to Therapy Vineyards where we sat on the beautiful rooftop patio as we enjoyed some lunch. The patio provided some exceptional views of the Naramata Bench, where we could really take in the experience.

From there, we completed the day at Moraine Winery where we really focused on capturing the little moments that happen during the tasting. It’s these little moments that make each tasting unique and special. From providing detail on the winery, vineyards and local area, you’re bound to walk away from each tasting with a wealth of knowledge and hopefully a new favourite wine!

As we concluded the shoot day, we reflected on what we’ve captured and had some time to play with the lighting and scenery to capture some creative shots. Kayla was so wonderful not only sticking to her vision, but by guiding us as the day moved on, to ensure we captured aspects of her vision, all while hearing our feedback and suggestions.

When in Wine Country, you’re bound to have a good time, but uncorkBC really made the day one to remember! To see how it all came together, check out the video here
